What the back garden should look like

As posted yesterday, this is what our back garden looks like, on the day the builders finished the patio. There's still lots to do. Building, painting, planting, prettifying.

Don't worry. We're not going to leave it like that. It should look like a mixture of these when it's finished....


Raised beds with some plants to make it a bit more green and garden-like.

Pergola (with roof) at the back where the mound of earth and grass is, with festoon lights.

Nice comfy seating and a fire on the patio for wine drinking. Or gin and tonics. Or Pims. Or beer. I'm not too fussy. Our house won't look like this though as it's more granite and Victorian than beachy and New England.

One of these Happy Cocooning fires would be perfect. I don't know who these people are in the pic, but they look pretty happy with their fire!

And of course candles on the table, under the pergola at the back of the garden.

And possibly more festoon lights. I really want to give Hydro Electric more money.

We still have a bit to go!
